How to wash bed sheets and towels?


White and light-colored cotton sheets wash well in any water temperature. Polyester sheets washed using warm water. And it is better to use cool water to wash darker colored sheets to keep from color fading. Wash your sheets and towels once a week to keep things fresh. Avoid very hot temperatures when washing and drying, they weaken fibers.


During the cold and flu season or any clothes that an ill person has been wearing, using towels and sheets should really be washed at a fairly warm temperature to kill bacteria and germs. A good temperature for washing towels and sheets is 40 degrees, but a 60 degree wash will be better at killing germs. This will also help reduce allergens.
