However leaks can occur from cylinder, valves and pipe connections if it is not kept in good condition.
how to check lpg cylinder leakage:
- Ethyl Mercaptan is added to the gas, which possesses that strong odor of rotten cabbages. The smell helps us to detect when there is a leak.
- Prepare a soap-and-water solution and put it in a spray bottle or a dish. Apply a soap-and-water solution to each connection in the gas lines. Turn on the gas and look for bubbles. If bubbles form - tighten the fitting slightly with a pipe wrench and recheck.
In case of a leakage:
- Do not turn on or turn off any electrical appliances in the kitchen if you think that there is a leak.
- Immediately switch off the regulator and put on the safety cap on the cylinder. Put out all flames, lights, incense sticks etc.
- Keep all the windows and doors open to ensure ventilation. But do not switch on electric fans or exhaust fans for this purpose.
